The 5 food i’ve tried on SOJIMART

Hi everyone!

I really enjoy having food delivered to me and saving the hassle of getting ready, getting out of the house, looking for parking and so much more. Getting food of GrabFood & FoodPanda also minimises the risk to Covid-19 exposure which is why on most days, I’d much rather order in. Recently, I’ve also came to know about a FB Page called SojiMart, a Facebook-based marketplace founded by Timothy Tye where you can buy and sell on Facebook from anywhere in Malaysia. On this platform, you will be able to find vendors selling things from delicious home-cooked meals, snacks, homemade crafts and much more!

Here are the five food items I’ve recently tried which I think you should too!

#1 Khao Soi Gai

One of the postings that caught my eye while scrolling SojiMart was the Khao Soi Gai, a classic Northern Thai Coconut Curry Noodle Soup With Chicken. I am a huge fan of Thai food, so I knew it was something I had to try!

If you have never had Khao Soi before, it is springy egg noodles in a fragrant coconut milk-based broth served together with a chicken drumstick or thigh, pickled mustard greens, shallots, beansprouts, fresh lime, cilantro, chili and garlic oil, and topped with crunchy noodle strips. The Khaoi Soi was so creamy and flavourful with a variety of different textures and the right amount of spiciness. I highly recommend this dish and will definitely reorder. If you miss the taste of Thailand, be sure to order this delicious Khao Soi here.

#2 Mutton Nasi Lemak

The next thing that was immediately placed on my to-order list from SojiMart would be the mutton nasi lemak! Everyone who knows me would know that I just love everything mutton, so seeing mutton and nasi lemak together, seem like a match made in Heaven. The dish consisted of aromatic fragrant coconut rice topped with crispy anchovies, peanuts and served with tender chunks of mutton. It really felt home-cooked and not mass prepared like the ones you get in restaurants. If you love mutton and want a little twist to your everyday nasi lemak, you definitely have to give this a go!

#3 Asam Laksa & Lemak Laksa

If you are part of the SojiMart FB Group, you would have noticed so many rave reviews of Evans Cheah’s asam laksa & lemak laksa. I had to try it out for myself and ordered both the asam laksa & lemak laksa, and I must say that both types definitely live it up to all the hype. My favourite has got to be the asam laksa, and it has got to be one of the best laksa I have ever tried. The broth was so flavorful and perfectly balanced with just the right amount of heat. I’ve reordered the laksa for about three times now and the taste has is consistent every single time. Don’t take my word for it, try it for yourself and order yours today!

#4 Fresh Fruit Tarts

As a dessert person, I am always on the lookout for delicious homemade desserts. I ordered a box of fresh fruit tart which is essentially a sweet pastry crust, filled with light whipped cream filling and topped with seasonal fresh fruit. I loved how the tarts were filled with airy whipped cream instead of your typical heavy custard filling which was probably why I could devour five tarts in a go! The fruits were fresh and the colours were so vibrant which were pleasing to the eye. If you’re in the mood for a dessert that is light and not too sweet, you can place your order here!

#5 Cute Bear Bread

I mean, how could I say no to adorable bear-shaped homemade bread right? So I stumbled on this vendor on SojiMart promoting really cute bear buns and it instantly caught my eye. It arrived in a box with personalised handwritten quote which was a nice touch. The bread was so cute and exactly as advertised! The buns were so soft & tender and filled with chocolate and red bean. My mum & I finished the entire box of buns in under an hour cause it was just that good! Want cute buns? Get yours here!

With all these amazing Sojimart vendors, why do I even bother cooking?

The past few months have been tough on many, so it is nice to see a platform like Sojimart helping small businesses and local brands. If you are not part of Sojimart yet, you can join here. It is absolutely FREE and you can get a first hand update on amazing local products & services!
